Stranded 2 Guide

Introduction

The following is a general guide to playing Stranded 2. This free game is based upon the idea that you must try and survive on various desert islands. Using items you find on those islands you can construct tools, buildings and weapons. These will help when hunting for food or harvesting crops.

Island Guides

First steps on the island

When you first arrive on an island, you’ll need to check for several things and keep notes of where useful areas / items are. It’s best not to stray too far, unless you have enough food and water.

  • Check initial area for any shipwrecked cargo boxes, break these open for items
  • Find a stone and a branch (attack a tree for one), combine them and you’ll get a hammer.
  • Right-click the hammer to create a building site, you’ll want a shelter.
  • Search for food, including berries / mushrooms / grapes / cocoa plants / bananas / coconuts / wheat / animals (mind the dangerous ones)
  • Search for fresh water springs or pools (salt water is nasty), sources of iron, cotton and good area of trees.

Trees and plants

Here’s a list of trees and plants to help identify them when you’re out gathering supplies or exploring. I’ll add larger images when I get the chance.

Banana Palm
Coconut Palm
Cacao Tree
Coffee Tree
Plum Tree

Planting

To plant things simply put the item in your hand, look at a spot on the ground (not too close to another plant) and then press E.

Plant Skill level
Grain 0
Grapes 0
Hempleaf 0
Berry 50
Leaf 200
Branch 200
Banana 400
Coconut 400
Cacao 400
Coffee 400
Plum 400

Loctus Plague!

Getting your crop eaten by Locutus, here’s why they appear. The game will check the following list, if it is all true (with a bit of random bad luck as well) you’ll get a plague.

  • Going to sleep
  • There are more than 30 grain plants on the island
  • You have a planting skill level of over 40
  • Game does a random number from 1 to 3, if it’s 1, the plague starts

Anyone whose really interested, the game will loop through your grain and pick one every 5, 6 or 7 plants and then send in the locutus.

Combinations

Items can be combined to create other items, these include buildings, weapons, tools, food and others.

This list is a bit of a spoiler, so please don’t rely on this. I’d only check this list if you’re stuck and in urgent need of something or losing interest in the game because you can’t figure out the combinations.

I also don’t understand what you do with a bone to, is it to be used as bait in the trap because the land trap never seems to work for me, it seems as if it closes by itself before anything gets in it.

also note that the bendable branch can be made less extravagantly by using it near water.

Find a wool plant (a plant designed with mostly white puff balls on it), hit it a couple of times (I prefer with the 0 key switching to bare hands as it gathers the most wool with the least damage to the plant), and click on the wool and only the wool and simply use the wool (key e).

any creature of the ocean can be used, if you look around the second island you will find lots of clams and starfish, but regular fish will work as well. Just collect the fish, clams, and/or starfish and drop them on the rectangular teleporting rock and press E. You will transport to the third island and be prepared to run when you do.

I would recommend you save before you transport.

go to the coast and follow the beach towards the lions den, I know the whole island seems like a lions den but its the area with the rock covered in guts, bones, and with some cotton plants nearby. There is a tree with purple fruit, the plums, near the beach so as your walking along the beach keep your head up.

Where can people find other islands to play? I’ve beaten the adventure but the single islands are kind of boring and the random islands are very plain, they are either too flat, too mountainous, or too hilly. I thought the first island in the adventure was the most fun, and I notice there is a map editor but I can’t play the games I make because I would know them too well and they wouldn’t be fun. Is there a website where other people have made islands that can be downloaded?

wheres the fungus needed to make the poison out of the bitterroot? I’ve tried the poision mushroom thats illistrated but that doesn’t work.

It worked for me… >.< Its the greenish mushroom, not the red, brown, or gray one. And the combination is as above – mushroom, bitterroot, water, and stone. Also try just mushroom and stone, as that is listed a little lower on the list… might work. *shrug*

    LOCATION:
If your on the first island (as opose to the random islands) just head south till you see a mountain (not the mountain to the east or to the west, the one to the south) covered in large rocks, climb it till you get to the top, then proceed eastward till you get to a cove with bubbles appearing on the survice, to your left you will see palm trees and an outcrop of rocks, to your right you will see a tree will bushes around it, head right to the tree with the bushes and go to a bush with white puffs all over it.

    PROCESS:
Your diary will explain that its a cotton plant, attack the cotton plant to harvest cotton, under the items menu use the cotton with the [e] key to make chords, harvest a branch from the tree by attacking it, the branch will need to be bendable so you will need to combine it with fresh water, once its bendable combine it with the chord.

    2nd LOCATION:
If you do not want to use your water from the boxes washed ashore you will need to find fresh water; head northwest back up the mountain and then east, you will find a bowl shaped rock with rainwater in it, you can then use [e] the branch to make it bendable, or you can head west from the top of the mountain to the top of the second rocky mountain where you will find a spring of fresh water and do the same thing.
