Pong TWO

Introduction

Release: V2.06 1stDecember 1997 (I was 17 years old).

System Requirements: Intel P75+, 16MB RAM.

It’s basically pong with slightly better graphics and a few other features.  During my college days I ended up being ahead of the class when it came to Pascal programming so after quickly finishing my work I’d spend time pottering around making a game.  This was the result.  Originally this was hosted on another site when I first released it, had over 2000 downloads.  I apologise to all of them for the waste of bandwidth and time hehe.

I had planned to develop it into Mortal Kombat meets Pong but at some point lost the code (was on a crappy floppy disk) and gave up on Pascal.

The following is a quote by the only site still hosting it:

Pong 2 by David Boyer New version of the venerable retro arcade game, Pong. Your goal is to hit balls with your bat, and stop them from zipping past you and reappearing on the other side of the screen. Each ball you miss gives your opponent a point, and vice versa. This unsophisticated, DOS-based version lets you play against the computer or human opponent. It has simple graphics, no sound, and very basic game dynamics. DOS 5.0

Download

Yes, there is a site still offering it for download, but only after signing up.

https://www.mbnet.fi/Apaja/alueet/tiedostot.asp?ParentID=&faid=141&Sort=PublishDate&Order=ASC&Kohta=61

I do have a copy of the compiled version but can’t decide on a file host to put it on as WordPress won’t let me upload it :P

Installation

To get it working on any modern PC (anything 200Mhz+), you’ll have to patch the executable.

Have a look at the following website for instructions, it’s easy enough and you don’t need the source.

After that you might be lucky and it’ll run, otherwise you’ll need DosBox.

--Info--
First off no saying that the game is not fair, the balls are set
up so that the next ball comes from the opposite side of the last ball.
This was written using Turbo Pascal 7 and was graphically powered
by GAMEUNIT. Art was by me and all the programming.
If you have any ideas, problems or want to help develop it just E-mail
me. The proplems that I find or that are E-mailed to me WILL be fixed
in the next version.
This is the first release of Pong 2 and don't try looking for a
prequel written by me because it was so shit I never released it.
  Sorry about any spelling mistakes.
