CfTracker: Demo & News

Demo

There is now a demo version of CfTracker available for you to poke around.  It’s just to give you an idea of the application and displays only fake data.  None of the actions or forms currently do anything against the test data, but that might change in future versions.

Please note that there are no ads in the actual CfTracker and they’re only present to make the people at CfmlDeveloper.com happy ;)

News

Upcoming changes

  • Memory statistics are getting their own section.
    • After much digging I’ve started added more verbose information about memory usage.
    • Garbage collection stats are being added.
    • Operating system memory information
    • Possibly adding server storage information as well.
  • New “Information” section.
    • Will contain JVM information.
    • Operating system details as well.
  • “Statistics” reworked.
    • Compilation time to monitor the need for increased template caching.
    • Class loading / unloading stats.
    • Garbage collection counts.
    • CPU Processor time for Coldfusion.
  • Historical Graphs (requires rrd4j library added)
    • Records information at 5 minute periods.
    • Custom database format (no datasource required).
    • Database size never grows (information resolution lowers over time).
    • Will survive service restarts.
    • Allow comparisons with previously recorded stats from other days.

Railo

A little bit of progress has been made towards a Railo port.  I have a version working on Railo and the application section complete.  Any volunteers to help the port along are more than welcome.

UI/UX/Design expert needed

I’ll freely admit I’m not the best designer in the world and when it comes to CfTracker, I’ve rushed things a little and the design wasn’t something I worried about much.  But the more I look at it, the more I want a slick and usable design.  Anyone who thinks they have the abilities to turn CfTracker into a work of beauty, please get in touch :)

Dashboard Charts

Currently using jFlot but thinking of switching to something else.  I’d really welcome any suggestions but whatever it is, it needs to work well as a live graph that is updated every 5 seconds or more.  These charts are nothing to do with the “historical” ones that’ll use rrd4j.

Thanks!

Just wanted to take a little time to say thanks to everyone who has retweeted my announcements, downloaded CfTracker, forked / watched the github site, commented on the blog or anything else.  Seeing people interest in CfTracker, keeps me wanting to work on it ;)

      @Sami

Thanks! That project looks great and doesn’t seem to make my browser swallow up memory like jFlot does. I’ll definitely take a look at using it ;)
